Things Lorelei Loves
Everyone is always asking me about what supplements I take, what healthy things I love - so I am going to start a list here - this is list is in progress, so check back often!
FRS - most of these products I don’t like, but their diet healthy energy powder gives me just the write amount of caffeine to keep me going (but not enough to keep me up at night) and a ton of great antioxidants. It contains green tea catechins and quercetin, and since I don’t drink as much green tea as I should I like that too. http://www.frs.com/
Hangover Prevention Formula/Prepair - I read about Prepair a couple of years ago and tried it and love it. It helps you recover faster from working out and maintain your stamina. It is made out of prickley pear cactus. The Hangover one just adds some B vitamins. Just a glass or two of wine will really knock me on my ass, but with HPF I feel just fine the next day. Not an excuse to overindulge however. http://www.perfectequation.net/ They also produce Coromega - a great omega 3 product - before I found Monavie this was the only way I could stand taking fish oil.
Isopure - for a quick protein shake on the go Isopure “no-carb” is quick and easy - shakes up well, lots of amnios, lots of protein no lactose and not a lot of calories. http://isopurerx.reachlocal.net/
L-Carnitine - this little amino rocks. I take 1000mg before doing cardio. It helps the body keep lean muscle on and burn fat.
MBTs - These work. If you walk, they make walking a whole new workout. It is the easiest thing you can change in your lifestyle and see amazing benefits. Wearing MBTs and walking (your dog, to work, wherever) forces you to engage more muscles and work much harder providing great results. http://www.swissmasaius.com/ (no, they are not so cute really, but who cares when your butt looks so much better?).
Spinning - I have to admit I always thought spinning was silly - after all, I can just hop on a bike (outdoors or in the gym) and pedal away - why have someone yell at you in the meanwhile? I took a couple of classes in 2001 and never thought of it again. That was until I went to Soul Cycle on the UWS and in the Hamptons. This is an amazing cardio endorphin push with great music that uses hand weights, to address the whole body. The teachers are amazing - energetic, focused, caring and most of all inspiring. They are on 72nd and Amsterdam and worth the trip - http://www.soul-cycle.com
Stevia - skip the sugar, of course. But, also skip the aspartame and the splenda - instead opt for Stevia, doesn’t whack out your glycemic index, natural and calorie free. Great in liquids only however.
Uncle Sam’s oatmeal - a client shared some of this amazing oatmeal with me - wow! Low sugar, low salt, flax seed, fiber - yum yum yum. http://www.usmillsllc.com/usmills/productview_description.php?id=1132&back=ASxcclAgCTVWPFA6BW8BcFJ7VScHMwI1ASANPFU7VSlVJ19sUCNSPFAxBnIFYlI%2BWzkDP1Ux
Water - drink some!
Wobenzym - my chiropractor suggested I try this to speed healing after I strained ligaments and dislocated my thumb. I do think I have fewer aches and pains and I recover faster from this sort of injury. Extra bonus - since I started taking it I have caught about 1/2 as many colds as usual and they don’t last as long. You can find it at your local healthfood store. http://www.wobenzym-usa.com/
Yoga - I used to take yoga because I thought it was good for me, kind of like medicine - until I found Sankalpah yoga - Isaac and Jude are amazing and teach a really vigorous flow class that stretches me out, works me out and makes me really calm. Flexibility is so important and feeling a bit more chill in the crazy world (without having to sit still to do it, which frankly makes me really stressed) is a gift! http://www.sankalpahyoga.com on 5th ave at 28th street.
And what do I love most? My husband Rob of course!
